YORK: WHERE CONTRAST DOMINATES

Its imposing and powerful exterior embodies pure comfort and luxury, with plenty of light and space. Deservingly, the views of the IJ get pride of place. The design for York, which is home to just 5 luxurious apartments, is as intuitive, adventurous and inviting as it is smart and efficient. It embraces and reflects the spirit of place, harnessing modern design philosophies and spatial concepts that are aligned with people’s living needs today.

DESIGN

York’s two lower floors are open and elongated for a panoramic look and feel. Deservingly, the views of the IJ get pride of place. The uniform windows set a tranquil tone and keep the building firmly grounded. The upper floors, on the other hand, refer to the area’s industrial past, with large windows punctuating the bold, imposing plates of corten steel. The penthouse is the building’s crowning glory, with the spacious roof terrace offering stunning views over the IJ.

York was designed by Rotterdam-based architectural firm Orange Architects, which works on projects all over the world and also designed Jonas, another building currently under construction in Amsterdam’s IJburg district. “We wanted to capture the power of the view in the very building. The lower floors embody the water, whereas the upper floors allow the famed Dutch skies to stand out in all their glory”

5 EXCLUSIVE APARTEMENTS

At York, the first few floors have a white concrete facade. The upper floors are finished in corten steel, a clear reference to the area’s industrial past. The colour of this material morphs over time, resulting in ever-changing hues and visuals. Bold and imposing.

Boasting this steel exterior and against a backdrop of other buildings of international allure, York will soon be one of the major architectural eye-catchers on the IJ. The building’s entrance deserves a special mention. Its warm, premium combinations of oak and steel will provide a striking contrast to the bold exterior.

LUXURIOUS BATHROOM AND KITCHEN

All apartments include a beautiful, completely finished kitchen designed by Piet Boon. Each apartment has its own layout and the arrangement of the kitchen therefore differs per apartment. Of course, future residents have the opportunity to adapt or redesign their kitchen together with the designers of Piet Boon Kitchen.

The bathrooms and sanitary facilities radiate luxury and offer optimum comfort. The finishing, which has been carried out down to the last detail, fits seamlessly with the layout and surface of the various apartments. The common denominator in this is the use of Tortu products and materials for all bathrooms and sanitary ware. Tortu stands for a perfect combination of quality, functionality and design and offers a very wide range.
